What should be considered with regard to the pool?

Chlorine-free - What does salt water pool mean?

It is a system that uses salt instead of chlorine to purify the pool water.

It is not a pool with sea water and the salt content is not the same as in the sea. Sea water has a salt content of about 3.55%. The salt system works with a concentration of up to 0.40 %, i.e. about one tenth of the concentration of seawater.

Pools that are cleaned with salt have several advantages over pools that use chlorine: They reduce eye irritation, dry skin and help revitalise the body's tissues and eliminate toxins. Another advantage is that they do not smell of chlorine.

As the density of salt water is higher than that of chlorinated water, these pools are also recommended for exercise and rehabilitation in case of accidents or injuries.

What should I look for in terms of pool cleanliness?

Mallorca is often called the "island of the wind". In fact, especially in summer, there is an all-afternoon weather phenomenon called "Embat".

This is a sometimes quite strong (but due to the heat very pleasant) wind from the sea, which of course can always blow leaves and insects into the finca pool. This is therefore not a fundamental contamination of the water, which also does not affect the pH value or the actual water quality.

In most cases, a net with an extension arm is available at the pool, with which these superficial impurities can be easily removed. The basic cleaning of the pool is usually done fully automatically by a circulation pump and is also carried out regularly enough by a "pool boy". However, if you have any doubts about the quality of the water in the finca you have booked, please contact your landlord or the local property management immediately to have the water quality checked again.

How do I deal with insects around the pool?

During the summer season, insects such as wasps are often found near the pool as they seek water and shelter from the heat. We understand if this causes concern and have prepared these tips for you.

Minimise insect presence:
To minimise insects near the pool, maintain and clean the area regularly. Keep food and sugary drinks away from the pool to avoid attracting them. Dispose of waste properly and use insect repellent when necessary.

Pool use:
Although encountering insects can be unsettling, remember that they are generally not aggressive unless disturbed. If you spot an insect, remain calm and move away slowly. If there are many wasps in an area of the pool, you should apply an insect repellent before entering the pool.

By following these tips, you can enjoy the pool while minimizing interaction with insects.
